There's pirate ships
on the horizon...
The Seafair Pirates of 1957
stopped for lunch at Ivar's and missed their big event (the burning
of King Neptune's Flagship in Elliot Bay). Ivar ran their picture along
with an ad in the newspaper later that week that read:
Ivar regrets
that last Sunday the Seafair Pirates were fiddling at Ivar's Acres
of Clams while Neptune's Flagship Burned.
Actually,
to keep the record right, the pirates were not fiddling, They were
up to the rings on their rascally ears in Ivar's delicious clam chowder,
clam bisque, clam newburg, fish and chips, and those wonderful deluxe
shore grills.
Many kind
but uninformed people have amazedly asked us how these buccaneers
could possibly remain enthusiastically eating while a 75 foot ship
burned, four cases of dynamite exploded, and assorted rockets rent
the air-almost right in their faces.
These were
all folks who have not yet tasted seafood served the Ivar's way.
There
are some things which have more appeal than burning ships, duty, or
dynamite...and a meal at Ivar's is one of them. Have you lost yourself
lately in the gastronomical delights of Ivar's Acres of Clams or Ivar's
Fifth Avenue?
